Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is aggressively pursuing fetal personhood and the elimination of all abortions in Florida, including challenging surrogacy agreements in Broward County as unconstitutional under the Thirteenth Amendment. His efforts include suing Planned Parenthood and intervening in judicial waivers for minors seeking abortions, aiming to bring the issue of fetal personhood before the Florida Supreme Court.

A Florida House panel approved HB 1071, a bill requiring instruction on embryologic and fetal development for students in grades 6 through 12, including the use of high-definition ultrasound videos. The bill also prohibits public schools from using state or federal funds for programs promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, or political and social activism.

A federal appeals court ruled that Clearwater's 2023 buffer zone ordinance outside Bread and Roses Woman's Health Center violates the First Amendment by restricting abortion opponents from distributing leaflets. The 11th Circuit ordered a preliminary injunction blocking the five-foot buffer zone on each side of the clinic driveway, emphasizing free speech rights over the city's safety concerns.
